Way back in the day i just did tips on my nails and i was rippin them up, so i went and got them professionally done. While watching i thought "well that looks easy" so i got my own stuff and started doin my own until I got the hang of it. Then my ex husband told me i was obsessed of doing my nails so i was encouraged to go to school and get trained to do professionally. Ive been doing them on my own since, learning other techniques from other techs and this site.
